Palácio do Correio Velho

Palácio do Correio Velho was founded in 1989 with the purpose of entering the Art market in order to provide the best possible service in this important business of identification, preservation and transmission of antiques and works of Art. 

The opening Auction for the start of Palácio do Correio Velho’s activity was with “Biblioteca de D. Carlos I e de D. Manuel II” which became emblematic for the company in the market due to its outstanding quality and rarity. Palácio do Correio Velho soon established itself in a leadership position in the Art, antiques and books Auction market.

Palácio do Correio Velho has had the collaboration of a wide range of national and international connoisseurs, specialists or experts, also cooperating with several museums on identifying and categorizing works of Art. 

The most brilliant moments of its activity have been the Live Auctions of outstandingly valuable private collections of Antiques, Modern and Contemporary Art and Books. 

Always on the lead of the Art market in Portugal, it was the first company of the Auction Business to be online by creating a website and taking the first steps in the online auctions. 

In effect, in 2014, in addition to the great live auctions of Antiques, Palácio do Correio Velho started its Online Auctions, where theme identification for both partial and whole auction allows clients swifter recognition and access. We highlight themes like Collectables, Books, Ancient Prints, Medals, Wines, Porcelain, and Classic Toys. 

Implemented in the same innovation project and according to the new market trends, Palácio do Correio Velho also started its Live Auctions broadcasting its Live Auctions in Live Streaming on the Online International Platform Invaluable.
