Ca. AD 200 - 300.A Roman gold ring with a carnelian intaglio depicting the god Mercury. The god is carved in a stylised manner, wearing a wide-brimmed petaso hat on his head and his iconic winged sandals. The ring has an angular hoop with a D-shaped section which expands at the shoulder to accommodate the intaglio.
