A FINE MUGHAL MINIATURE PAINTING OF A SEATED RULER
India, Ca. 17th - 18th century AD . A miniature painting of rectangular form depicts a noble Mughal ruler seated on an opulently decorated throne against a lush green background. The emperor, adorned in a red and gold robe with a pearl-encrusted turban, holds a sword while his posture exudes regal authority. The delicate features of his face, surrounded by a subtle halo, emphasize his divine rule. Above, a finely painted parasol, indicative of royal status, hovers over the ruler, reinforcing his position of power. The surrounding Persian inscription identifies the figure as a Mughal sovereign. Rendered with remarkable precision, the painting demonstrates the mastery of Mughal court painters, with intricate detailing in the textiles, jewelry, and furnishings.
