Original Serigraph - Handsigned. Edition 150 Piece. Signed and numbered in pencil By the Author

Paolo Grimaldi was born on January 20 in Trieste under the sign of Art. In fact, his father is a publisher of art books and precious monographs of the great Masters of the Ecole de Paris (Chagall, Mirò, Picasso, Modigliani, Matisse). He takes the young Paolo with him on his travels in Europe, in the studios of artists and in museums, educating his sensitivity to art. Thus began his love of drawing, copy and copy Andrea del Sarto, known as Andrea without errors for his perfection, Perugino, Durer for his engravings. In the meantime, he frequented some art printing works, where he learned to make serigraphs, lithographs and etchings. Following the instinct for freedom, common to many artists, after finishing his scientific studies, he leaves for Spain. He stops first in Malaga, then in Marbella, where he attends the studies of Spanish artists, and begins to do portraits on commission. He stopped for six months, during which he began studying the psychology of the figure. Back in Italy, he decided to devote himself entirely to painting. He resumes the study of the pictorial techniques of classical art, develops a personal style, deepens the study of color. Travel to Sweden. He stopped in Gothenburg for a few months, he painted a cycle of abstract paintings in white-black-gold. He moved permanently to Umbria. In a short time he became known as a portraitist and performed a large number of portraits, receiving private commissions from many Italian cities. He wanders through medieval cities, traces the ideal art paths of Pinturicchio, Giotto, Piero della Francesca, of the Lorenzetti, and joining them to the places of their passage, he elaborates some architectural compositions where memory and dream coexist with reality and appearance. From this moment on, he will paint only oneiric monuments and buildings, which he will call "Dream Villages". He studied a personal painting technique using as a support the table on which he spreads material mixtures of marble powder, stucco and glue. As a color, he uses tempera, which he prepares himself, and oil, uses gold and silver leaf, following the gilding technique used in the fourteenth century, wax as the final finish. Lives and works in Spello in Umbria.
