She graduated in 2011 with a degree in painting from Shahed University in Tehran and in 2014 she obtained a Master's degree in graphic design from Tehran University of Art. She is particularly active in the Iranian art scene and has participated in more than thirty group exhibitions, art festivals and biennials. She is an interdisciplinary artist, experimenting with installation art, painting, photography and performing arts. She lives and works in Tehran.
In her practice, she focuses on the interconnections between past and present and investigates literary and artistic manifestations in contemporary societies.
The painting, entitled ‘Lover in the landscape’, belongs to the series ‘Shirin’, which featured in the tragic novel ‘Khosrow and Shirin’, written by the Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi (1141-1209). Soltani is interested in Nizami's work and considers his vision of Sasanian society to be very progressive, far removed from the conservative and patriarchal vision of contemporary Iranian society.
