Ali Al Jabiri (Iraq, 1948 - Rome 2018)Untitled Lost-wax bronze castingH. 42 x 40 cm
Ali Al Jabiri was born in Amara (Iraq) in 1948. He studied Fine Arts in Baghdad before moving to Italy in 1970 where he continued his formation in sculpture and decorative arts at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome. Along his career he exhibited his works in many shows both in Iraq and abroad and his fame increased thanks to his participation in the Iraqi pavilion of the Venice Biennale in 1976, 1988 and 1990. In the meantime, the artist also planned and created a series of large monuments that can still be seen today in Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. In this sculpture the artists depicts a deconstructed sphere, possibly influenced by the artists belonging to the European avantgardes, who deconstructed the forms to recreate new, more meaningful ones. The authenticity is confirmed by the artist's heirs.
