Ali Al Jabiri was born in Amara (Iraq) in 1948. He studied Fine Arts in Baghdad before moving to Italy in 1970 where he continued his formation in sculpture and decorative arts at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome. Along his career he exhibited his works in many shows both in Iraq and abroad and his fame increased thanks to his participation in the Iraqi pavilion of the Venice Biennale in 1976, 1988 and 1990. In the meantime, the artist also planned and created a series of large monuments that can still be seen today in Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. In this painting, the face of a woman, with features reminiscent of Babylonian sculptures, the artist recalls the tradition of Iraq and surrounding areas.
