Mukhalad Al Mukhtar (Iraq, 1948 - Austria 2017) Iraq Baghdad, 1999Acrylic on canvas 90 X 80 cm - Born in Mosul in 1948, he graduated from the Baghdad Academy of Fine Arts in 1973 and obtained a second diploma from the Academy of Rome, where he continued his studies. During his career, Mukhalad took part in several group exhibitions in Europe and won numerous awards. This artwork, like the other in the catalogue, depicts part of the Iraqi cultural tradition through layers of decorative wall friezes that here take on the value of cultural superimpositions unfolded over millennia. Dated and signed in Arabic lower left and on the reverse side in Latin characters.
