An etruscan gold belt hook with reclining figure of a man.
First half of the 6th century B.C.
L (tot): 46 mm Weight: 3,29 grs
This belt hook is composed of two rectangular embossed gold sheets, each one with a central figure showing a reclining man. Four perforations at the corner and a double hook joining a double ring composed the attach. The iconography reminds the etruscan sarcophagi reclining figures. Provenance: The Gotha Precious Collection: property of a Swiss Collector; with Oswald Burchard, Zurich, until 1983; formerly part of the M. Hess Collection (Hotel Jura, Basel).
