Gallerie des femmes fortes
Disassembled book of which 19 plates of 21 are inlaid in an album. Half calf binding, with signs of wear. Engravings trimmed on the edge of the plate, some with lacks.
'Gallerie des femmes fortes' by Pierre Le Moyne was first published in 1647. The original consists of twenty chapters dedicated to exemplary women. Each chapter was illustrated by a plate engraved after a drawing by Claude Vignon. This is probably one of the editions published in Lyon (1662, 1667 with engravings by G. Audran, N. Auroux, J. Blanchin and V. Guigou) or in Paris (Angot, 1660; Quinet, 1663).
