Provenance: Guido Gentili collection, acquired in Gent (Belgium) in the early '60s.
The monumentality of this sculpture is not only the consequence of its large dimensions but, above all, of the firm and powerful pose with which its florid body was sculpted and in the hieratic expression of its face, splendidly set in a hairstyle with parallel bands on the sides of the skull.
