Luigi Frullini
A carved wood frame, signed: Luigi Frullini Firenze, front sight 22by16cm.; rabbet size 23,5by18cm.; total size 33,8by28cm.
Frullini's artistic production was abundant, but there are few traceable works. After the success of the Italian National Exhibition in Florence in 1861, he was convinced to open a workshop in Florence in 1867, which became a place for the production of refined furnishings, especially for foreign collectors, mostly Anglo-Saxons. His models of ornamentation and decoration were adopted in all the schools of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and in many Institutes of France and Germany. The importance of his workshop in Florence, in via S. Caterina, which became the largest in the city, grew to the point that in 1873 Frullini was awarded the medal of honor at the Vienna Exhibition.
