Pair of monumental patinated bronze vases, Japan, Meiji period - pear-shaped body richly chiselled on the body in high relief and in the round with scenes from Japanese mythology such as warriors fighting demons and figures of wise men; neck opening with a sequence of stylized leaves. The vases are grafted onto a structure also in patinated bronze chiseled with simulated rocks with waterfalls, defined near the circular foot by a band with a fret. Octagonal base in lacquered and decorated wood, the vases: h. cm. 114; with the bases h. cm. 158
