We are offering a huge selection of antique prints and engravings from 17th-20th centuries.


Subjects included are natural history, architecture & designs, caricatures & humour, classical (including Egyptology), religious & historical, famous buildings and views, maps, sporting events, royal and historical portraits.


We particularly feature ornithological prints by John Gould, Jacques Barraband, Conrad Susemihl, Beverly Morris, FN Martinet, Cornelius Nozeman, Peter Mazell, William Swainson, Prideaux J Selby, William Lewin, Jean-Baptiste Audebert, Robert Gillmor and Edward Lear.

This lithographic print of decorative designs from Persia is from L’Ornement Polychrome cent planches en couleurs…. by Auguste Racinet. Published by Firmin Didot et Cie and printed by Lemercier et Cie., Paris 1873. The lithographer was F. Durin.The full title of this work is L’Ornement Polychrome cent planches en couleurs or et argent contenant environ 2,000 motifs de tous les styles art ancient et asiatique moyen age renaissance XVII et XVIII siècles.Racinet, an accomplished artist, was the engraver and artistic director at the Parisian publisher Firmin Didot et Cie. Published in ten instalments between 1869 and 1873, the first iteration of L'Ornement Polychrome (colour ornament) is a visual record in 100 plates of the decorative arts from antiquity to the eighteenth century. The work was such a huge success that in 1885–7 Racinet brought out a second series, this time of 120 plates, and updated to include designs of the nineteenth century as well. The imagery presented in both series is drawn from a wide array of various mediums, including woodwork, metalwork, architecture, textiles, painting, and pottery, and from cultures all over the world.Size: 16 x 11.5 inch (40 x 29cm)
