Original edition, printed on heavyweight paper, in maximum folio format, of a sumptuous “party book” published on the occasion of the wedding of Louise-Elisabeth of France (1727-1759), eldest daughter of King Louis XV, with Infante Filipe, of Spain (1720-1765). The 12 typed sheets include a title page, with a large vignette with the coat of arms of the city of Paris, and the text with the description of the festivities, at the beginning of which is another large vignette (31x16 cm) representing Paris and the festivities on the Sena River. Then follow 13 copperplate prints (8 double and 5 full page), opened in copper plate by Jean-François Blondel, according to originals by himself, as well as by Salley, Rousset et Gabriel. The first part (p. 1 to 16) contains the description of the festivals in the city, as well as the fireworks; the second (p. 17 to 22) describes the gala that took place at the “Hotel de Ville” in Paris, on the night of the 30th to the 31st of August. The most spectacular engraving (planche IX) is, without a doubt, the one representing the “Veue générale des décorations, illuminations et feux d’artifice...”. Copy with slight browning and slight handling; small marginal tear in print VII, without lack of support; prints IX, XII and XIII with some imperfections along the folds; minor restoration on the back of the last print. Modern ex-libris by E. Mareuse. Contemporary binding, in full sheepskin, with some wear, a creased corner and some damage to the spine; peripheral gold ornamental border, with florets on the corners and circles on the squares. At the centre of both covers, the gold-engraved book stamps, with the coat of arms of the city of Paris. Keeps the original endpapers on marbled paper. Cohen (Livres à gravures), col. 149/150.
