Blue sapphires are mined all around the world.  Sri Lanka and Madagascar mine the most blue sapphires.  They are also mined in  India, Myanmar, Thailand, and Australia.  In North America, sapphires have been mined mostly from deposits in Montana.

  • The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is the world's leading authority and educator on diamonds, colored stones, and pearls.
  • Archeological evidence shows that sapphires were collected by the Etruscans over 2500 years ago.
  • The blue sapphire is often used to signify trust, loyalty and romance amongst other things.
