ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  This white gold ring features a vivid and brilliant pink spinel that is set in pink gold prongs, and has a fancy light pink diamond floating halo with an outer halo of impressive colorless diamonds. The ring has a supportive gallery and under gallery, and the approximate 2.3 mm shank bears the Oscar Friedman hallmark and gold content.

• Spinel is often called "The Great Imposter" because it has been mistaken for ruby and sapphire for centuries.  The "Black Prince Ruby" is actually a red spinel that is in the Imperial State Crown of England since nearly 1367AD.  Queen Victoria wore a necklace given to her in 1850, long thought to be the world's largest ruby, called the "Timur Ruby". In 1853, it was found to actually be a 353.5 carat red spinel!
