SECOND EDITION of this important chronicle printed according to the second. The first edition was published in Lisbon, by Francisco Correia, in 1566-1567. Considered by many to be the main work of Damião de Góis, valued for his critical attitude, free from patronizing amplifications, his attitude towards violence against Jews became famous. In the first part, it refers to the events in Portugal and other European countries at the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century. In the second, third and fourth parts, he reports the deeds overseas, in which men such as Vasco da Gama, Pedro Álvares Cabral, Duarte Pacheco, etc. When the first part was published, it attracted the intervention of the censor, which changed the reference to the conspiracy of the nobility against D. João II, some excerpts of an ethnographic nature that were judged less compliant, assessments of the administration of D. Afonso V and D. Manuel, judgments on the relationship between the King and Ferdinand, the Catholic, etc. Rare and treasured.
