Valério Martins de Oliveira, from Escalita, baptized on November 25, 1695, was a bricklayer in Lisbon. This didactic work of his was published for the first time in 1739, with several editions succeeding one another, 1748 and the present one from 1757, the latter still revised and added by the author. A 4th edition was also published in 1826. Illustrated with drawings and diagrams in the text.
