ONLY ONE COPY OF THIS EDITION IS KNOWN. Work that testifies to the expedition of Francisco Pizarro, whose author was secretary, to the Inca Empire and one of the most important on the conquest of Peru. The work had a profound and lasting influence on the subsequent histories of Peru, being considered by many the founding text of all those concerned with the history of that country. Born in Seville in 1495, Jerez arrived on the American continent in 1514 as a member of Pedro Arias de Ávila's expedition. In 1524 he participated with Pizarro in the failed expedition to South America, and in 1531 in the successful conquest of Peru. In the latter, in November 1532, he broke his leg when his horse suffered a fall, forcing him to spend months recovering, and it is assumed that it was during this period that he wrote this text. In June 1534, Jerez returned to Spain, and in this year the first edition of the text came out of print. Only one copy of this is known, considered by some bibliographers to be the second edition, and is therefore an extremely important bibliographic species. Palau tells us of this, who states that he is the "ejemplar Huth, the only known author of this edition." The specimen is now at the University of Michigan, where the Huth collection was integrated. Unique and valuable.
