Repertory of Orders of the Day from 1809 to 1813, delivered by Marshal William Carr Beresford (1768-1854), an English soldier who began his connection to Portugal when he was sent by Prince D. João to occupy Madeira, preventing the French from occupying it. Appointed generalissimo of the Portuguese Army in 1809, whose ranks were disorganized after Junot's invasion. These orders of the day concern the entire period of his command of the Portuguese army from the beginning of the campaign until the year in which he was seriously injured in the decisive battle of Salamanca.
