Dovizioso was discovered by Aprilia who decided to focus on him, realizing his great abilities. He became national motorcycling champion in 2000 and the following year he won the European Speed championship in the 125 cm³ category with the RCGM team[1] and the crew chief Guido Mancini.[2] Precisely in that year, 2001, he made his debut in the world championship, racing at the Mugello grand prix in the 125 class.
