Nicolò Barella (Cagliari, 7 February 1997) is an Italian footballer, a midfielder for Inter, of which he is vice-captain, and for the Italian national team, with whom he became European champion in 2021.

Considered one of the best midfielders of his generation, he grew up in the youth sector of Cagliari, with whom he made his professional debut in 2015.

In 2019 he moved to Inter, with whom he won two Italian championships (2020-2021 and 2023-2024), two Italian Cups (2021-2022 and 2022-2023) and three Italian Super Cups (2021, 2022 and 2023), as well as having reached a UEFA Europa League final (2019-2020) and a UEFA Champions League final (2022-2023).

Since 2018 he has played for the Italian national team, with which he has played 31 consecutive matches without defeat, setting a record previously held by Ugo Locatelli, who stopped at 22.

On an individual level, he has been included five times in the AIC team of the year (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023) and once in the UEFA Europa League team of the season (2020).

He was also included in the list of 30 finalists for the Ballon d'Or in 2021[5] and 2023, as well as being elected best midfielder in Serie A in the 2020-2021 and 2022-2023 seasons.
