Leonid Mikhailovich Savelov (1868-1947) was a historian, specialist in the genealogy of the Russian nobility, and collector. He was one of the founders and chairman of the Historical and Genealogical Society in Moscow and chairman of the Imperial Archaeographic Commission at the Moscow Archaeological Society. This work was primarily based on the description of the historian's own book collection and subsequently had a significant influence on the development of heraldic bibliography.
