This fundamental work contains invaluable artistic and archival material reflecting the richness and grandeur of Russian art. For the creation of this publication, the painter, art historian, art theorist, restorer, and museum worker IGOR GRABAR' (1871-1960) engaged the best figures in Russian culture of his time: A.N. Benois, I.Ya. Bilibin, A.M. Vasnetsov, N.N. Wrangel, N.K. Roerich, F.F. Gornostaev, S.P. Diaghilev, V.A. Pokrovsky, N.P. Kondakov, S.K. Makovsky, A.I. Uspensky, among others. Despite being incomplete, this work remains one of the most comprehensive studies on the history of Russian art.

Volume 4 remained unfinished, with only Issue 23 being published, and a significant portion of the print run was destroyed. The publication was interrupted with Issue 23.

Complete set, including the only published issue of the fourth volume.
