PEARY ROBERT: (1856-1920) American Rear Admiral and Explorer, claimed to have reached the geographic North Pole with his expedition in 1909. A printed 8vo menu card for a dinner organised by the Société de Geographie of Geneva in honour of Peary, held at the Grand Hotel Beau-Sejour on 31st May (1913), signed by Peary in bold black fountain pen ink with his name alone to the verso, and also signed by Josephine Diebitsch Peary (1863-1955, American author and arctic explorer, wife of Robert Peary) and Marie Ahnighito Peary (1893- , daughter of Robert and Josephine Peary, known as the 'snow baby' due to her birth taking place less than thirteen degrees from the North Pole). Also bearing the ownership signature ('Monsieur Pittard') of the Swiss anthropologist Eugene Pittard (1867-1962). One minor ink blot to the first initial of Robert Peary's signature and some light overall age wear, otherwise VG
