OSCAR II: (1829-1907) King of Sweden 1872-1907 and King of Norway 1872-1905. A very fine A.L.S., Oscar, two pages, 8vo, Stockholm, 8th January 1880, to Mr. Lagreze, in French. The letter bears to the heading an attractive embossed colourful Royal monogramme of King Oscar, underneath a gilt crown. The King thanks his correspondent for his greetings, and states in part `You know the loss I have experienced with the death of my loyal Holtermann and I consider I should make you aware that Mr. le Chamberlain of Printzskoid is appointed secretary of my private office. It will therefore be with him that you will kindly correspond in future..´ With blank integral leaf slightly lose. VG
