WLADYSLAW IV VASA: (1595-1648) King of Poland 1632-48. A renowned Patron of the Arts. Wladyslaw gained fame when he defeated the Ottoman Empire and was elected Tsar of Russia by the Seven Boyars in 1610, although he did not accept the Russian throne. Rare L.S., `Vladislaus Rex´, a bold black ink good signature example, one page, 4to, Strzembowo, 2nd October 1635, to ''Monsignor Honorary Count, Archbishop Larissano and Apostolic Nuncio in our Kingdom'', in Latin. To the heading, ''Wladyslaw Vasa, by the Grace of God, King of Poland, Grand-Duke of Lithuania, Rusia, Prusia, Savonia, Livonia, Smolensk, Severia and Chernivtsi, and King heir of the Sweden..'' The King of Poland refers to the Royal agreement with the Papal state and the great Duchy of Lithuania and the presence of the church in his territories, and wishes to progress towards a stable future collaboration. A cleanly written letter. Bearing to the address leaf a good Royal paper seal in fine condition. Overall age toning,, although remaining perfectly legible. Very lightly affixed to the spine, inside a folding paper sheets. G
