PEDRO II OF BRAZIL: (1825-1891) Emperor of Brazil 1831-89. Also known as ''the Magnanimous'', second and last ruler of the Empire of Brazil. Rare A.L.S., `D[om] Pedro´, a large and bold good example signature, one page, 4to, n.p., [Rio de Janeiro], n.d., [circa 1860], to `Senor Vasconcellos´, in Portuguese, untranslated. The Emperor responds to his correspondent on a twelve autograph lines letter, referring to the points raised up and suggestions related to economic matters. With a blind embossed Canson seal to the upper left corner. With two extremely small holes not affecting the text or signature. Small creasing to the right border. G The Emperor´s correspondent Señor Vasconcellos could be Jose Pinheiro de Vasconcellos (1788-1884) President of the High Court of Justice under Pedro II.
