NECKER JACQUES: (1732-1804) Swiss Banker & Finance Minister 1777-81 under Louis XVI. Some of his decisions have been later considered as critical in creating social conditions which contributed to the outbreak of the French Revolution. A fine A.L.S., `Necker´, one page, 4to, Paris, 19th June 1778, in French. The letter is addressed to Baron de Navailles in Pau. Necker thanks his correspondent for the book received related to Henri IV, stating `I have received Sir, the work copy which you honoured me sending of the tribute to Henry IV, and I kindly ask you to accept my gratitude.
