FRANCK CESAR: (1822-1890) Belgian-French Composer. A good score book, signed and inscribed by Franck, the 8 x 11 hardback edition being a printed musical score of his work Ruth (1843-46, revised 1860), published by G. Hartmann, Paris, 1869. Signed and inscribed in fountain pen ink to the title page `Affectionate homage to
César Franck´. The 117 pages book is attractively bound in dark green leather with embossed gilt letters to the spine. Extremely small overall, minor age wear, otherwise VG £200-300 Ruth (1843-46), revised in 1860, is an ''Eglogue Biblique'' work in three parts, for soprano, mezzo-soprano, alto, baritone, two tenors, four-voice chorus and orchestra, with libretto by French author Alexandre Guillemin (1789-1872). The present version is a piano-vocal score prepared by Franck himself which was issued in 1869 by Hartmann, Paris.
