JOACHIM JOSEPH: (1831-1907) Hungarian Violinist and Composer. A close collaborator of Johannes Brahms. A good A.L.S., Joseph Joachim, two pages, 8vo, London, 30th [March 1867], to Monsieur Soubre, Director of the Royal Conservatory in Liege, in French. The composer refers to his next future concerts stating in part `I regret not being able to reach Liege in time as I would be arriving the same day of the concert as I play in Ghent… I will play instead the Barcarole... I would rather play the sonatas without any other instrument, although I do not hold all the merit of what Schuman´s achieved. If you include the Andante on the festival programme, be so kind to include it on its own as a second part, and as third the Prelude, Minuets, Gavottes... I leave London on Wednesday and will go to Belgium.´ Written to the first and third page. Accompanied by the original envelope, written in Vieuxtemps´ hand, poststamped. VG £150-200
