ZOLA EMILE: (1840-1902) French Writer. A.L.S., Emile Zola, to both sides of his personal printed visiting card, Médan, Villennes, 3rd July 1888, to Henry Céard, in French. Zola invites his correspondent and friend for dinner, stating `Will you be available for dinner on Thursday? We will have the Charpentier family attending the dinner, and I write to Antoine and ask him to join us, because I have promised to read ''Madeleine'' to the Charpentier. Nevertheless I will read it even if Antoine cannot come. You know this work but even so I´ll be happy if you can join us.´ Accompanied by the original envelope, post-stamped, with addressee also in his hand. VG £400-600 Henry Céard (1851-1924) French Poet and Novelist. A close friend of Zola.
