AUSTIN ALFRED: (1835-1913) English Poet. Appointed Poet Laureate in 1896. A.L.S., Alfred Austin, one page, 8vo, Ashford, Kent, 14th April 1905, on his personal printed stationery at Swinford Old Manor, to Mrs Cecilia Pearse. Austin sends a friendly message to his correspondent, referring to summer , meeting together, guests, etc.. Small annotation at the base of the document in the hand of a collector. VG £80-100 Cecilia Maria de Candia (1853-1926) later Mrs Pearse, was a British-Italian writer. Daughter of famous opera singer Guilia Grisi.
