MOBUTU SESE SOKO: (1930-1997) President of Zaire (Democratic Republic of the Congo) 1965-97. A.L.S., `Mobutu Sese Seko Kuku Ngbendu Wa Za Banga - Marshal´, one page, large drawing folio, Belgrade, 31st March 1988, the letter being a tribute to Josip Tito. Mobutu, in his capacity as President of the Republic of Zaire, states in part `The people of Zaire together with their National Party, the Popular Movement for the Revolution, will always remember Marshal and President Josep Broz Tito, one of the father founders of the Non-aligned Movement, which Zaire belongs to...´, in French. Boldly written in green ink by Mobutu. An attractive and cleanly written document EX £100-150 Josip Broz Tito (1892-1980) Yugoslav Revolutionary and Statesman. He gained further international attention as the chief leader of the Non-Aligned Movement. Widely considered a soft dictator, but also a unifying symbol bringing peace and coexistence.
