VERNE JULES: (1828-1905) French Novelist. Best known for his science fiction and adventures novels. A fine A.L.S., Jules Verne, one page, 12mo, Amiens, 29th March, in French. Veuillez donc attendre un petit mot de moi, qui me mettra entierement a votre disposition…´ (“I receive your letter here and I hasten to answer you. I plan to go to Paris next week. We could, if you agree, meet at my publisher Hetzel rue Jacob. Please wait for a word from me, which will put me entirely at your disposal…”) With blank integral leaf. VG

Pierre-Jules Hetzel (1814-1886) French Editor. He returned from his Brussels exile in 1860, and established his office at 18 rue Jacob in Paris. He published Proudhon and supported Baudelaire. He worked on the collaboration between writers, illustrators and scientists in order to reconcile science and fiction and bring imagination to pedagogy. He obtained strong success with his editions of Verne´s Voyages Extraordinaires. Verne and Hetzel signed a 20 years contract. Hetzel editors Company was bought by Hachette in 1914.
