MONTGOMERY B.L.: (1887-1976) British Field Marshal of World War II. An unusual printed 8vo pamphlet by Montgomery, entitled High Command in War, printed by the Printing and Stationery Services, Germany, June 1945, and issued to the 21 Army Group, the front cover carrying two warnings, 'Not to be Published - The information given in this document is not to be communicated, either directly or indirectly, to the Press or to any person not holding an official position in His Majesty's Service' and 'This pamphlet must NOT fall into enemy hands. Officers in possession of a copy will be responsible for its safe custody', the contents covering Montgomery's Principles of War, divided into Air Power, Administration, The initiative, Morale, Surprise, Concentration, Co-operation, Simplicity, and with a second section on Command and Control.
