PHILIP IV: (1605-1665) King of Spain 1621-65 and King Philip III of Portugal 1621-40. A fine L.S., `Yo el Rey´, one page, folio, Madrid, 12th March 1632, addressed to the Duke of Feria, in Spanish. To the heading the document states “Don Felipe, by the Grace of god, King of Castile, of Leon, Aragon, the Two Sicilies, Portugal, Navarre and the Indias, and Duke of Milan”. The King orders the Duke of Feria, member of the council of State, to pay Fadrique Enriquez, and states in part `…que yo mandé dar orden para que se le pagasen en ese estado cuatrocientos veintiséis mil setecientos veinticuatro maravedíes que se le debian de los cien escudos de sueldo que goza en las Guardas de Castilla..´ (“…that I ordered to pay in that state four hundred and twenty-six thousand seven hundred and twenty-four maravedis that were owed to him from the one hundred escudos of salary that he has granted of salaries in the Guards of Castile…”) With a Royal paper seal in very fine condition affixed to the bottom left corner.
