BERNHARDT SARAH: (1844-1923) French Actress. A very fine and attractive A.L.S., Sarah Bernhardt, a bold and full signature, three pages, oblong 8vo, n.p., n.d., to Paul Escudier, in French. On her printed stationery card, bearing to the heading her embossed monogram with her initials and motto, Bernhardt in an unusual clean and legible writing, reminds her correspondent the last time they met and wonders if 20 years have passed, stating in part `…c'est grâce à votre courtoise bienveillance que j'ai obtenu gain de cause ; je viens, après les longues années passées, encore une fois vous prier de me soutenir dans la lutte qui s'ouvre demain pour et contre moi…´ (Translation : ``… it is thanks to your courteous benevolence that I won my case; I come, after the long years that have passed, once again to ask you to support me in the struggle that opens tomorrow for and against me... ´´) Accompanied by the original printed stationery envelope with monogram.
