KAZAN ELIA: (1909-2003) American film and theatre director, Academy Award winner. T.L.S., Elia Kazan, one page, 4to, n.p. (New York), 28th August 1975, to Dr. Ben B. Braude. Kazan thanks his correspondent for their 'very meaningful' letter and continues 'I admire you for what you are doing - reading can certainly enrich one's life. You say you have read one or two of my books - I have written four. “America America” based on my film of the same name; “The Arrangement”; “The Assassins” and my latest, “The Understudy”…….I have asked my secretary to send you a paperback copy of “The Understudy”, which will be out in a couple of weeks.
