HUGO VICTOR: (1802-1885) French Poet and Novelist. A good autograph letter, signed twice. A.L.S., `Victor Hugo´, one page, 8vo, n.p., n.d., `Friday morning´, to Monsieur Pingard, at the Institute, in French. Hugo, in his usual difficult writing, states in part `Vous serait-il possible, mon cher Monsieur Pingard, de changer les deux places de l´amphithéâtre en trois places du centre. Dans le cas où il serait trop tard pour exécuter cette opération magique, vous seriez bien aimable d´ajouter du moins un amphitéâtre de l´Est… il me faudrait absolument trois places…´ (`Would it be possible for you, my dear Mr Pingard, to change the two seats in the amphitheatre into three seats in the centre. In case it is too late to make this magical operation, you would be very kind to add at least one amphitheatre from the East side… I would absolutely need three seats…´) With address leaf in Hugo´s hand and signed again with his name. With small paper seal to the address leaf. Overall minor creasing. G
