WELLINGTON DUKE OF: (1769-1852) Anglo-Irish Field Marshal, the Victor of Waterloo, 1815. British Prime Minister 1828-30, 1834. Series of eight autograph memoranda, two signed with his initial W, and the others unsigned, nine pages (total), 8vo, various places (London, Walmer Castle etc.), 1842-50, all to Henry Farnham, the groom at Stratfield Saye, providing various instructions regarding horses and ponies, referring to the arrival of two Shetland ponies from Scotland to London ('I beg that on the receipt of this note you will send up a careful man to bring them down by the Reading Rail Road. He must lead them over from Reading to Stratfield Saye. They are only two years old'), in another making a reference to 'young Copenhagen' (1842) as well as paddocks, stables, hunting etc. Together with six autograph envelopes addressed in Wellington's hand to Farnham, three signed with his initial W in the lower left corner. One of the letters with torn edges and paper loss and some others with neat splits at the folds and other minor age wear, the envelopes with some foxing and dust staining etc. FR to generally G, 14
