FABIOLA: (1928-2014) Queen Consort of the Belgians 1960-93. A good A.L.S., `Fabiola´, two pages, small 4to, n.p. [Brussels], 22nd March 1968, to Madame the Princess Albert de Ligne, in Madrid, in Spanish. A cleanly written letter by Fabiola who has recently had hospital surgery and states in part `Mucho he agradecido tu amable carta recordándonos desde España, con el espléndido ramo de rosas, iris, lilas, y no sé cuantas especies más de flores preciosas, que me has enviado por mi operación´ (Translation : `I have greatly appreciated your kind letter remembering us from Spain, with the splendid bouquet of roses, irises, lilacs, and I don't know how many more species of precious flowers, which you have sent me for my operation´) Fabiola further refers to their last conversation about her correspondent´s daughter and reminds her advices and her friends in Madrid. Before concluding, Fabiola refers to her husband Baudouin King of the Belgians, saying `El Rey agradece también tu recuerdo en estos momentos difíciles, que están pasando con nuestro país y sus problemas´ (Translation : `The King also appreciates your souvenir in such difficult times you are experiencing with our country and its problems´) Accompanied by the original envelope, addressed in Fabiola´s hand, bearing a Royal red wax seal to the verso, in fine condition.
