MASSENET JULES: (1842-1912) French Composer. A.L.S., Ju Massenet, to the recto of a picture postcard of Egreville, Seine-et-Marne, n.p., 12th September 1907, in French. Massenet has penned to the upper right corner of the postcard a musical quotation of two bars which he identifies as ''Werther'' (1892), his main opera. Further stating ´My great friend, in my Loneliness I read you, and I am so moved by so much friendship... I work to well deserve it.´ Together with two A.Ls.S., Massenet, each one page, 8vo, n.p, n.d., in French. Massenet states in the first letter ´from the Countryside during summer´ and to an unknown lady ´…thank you wholeheartedly, ''Cinderella'' works so admirably, the rehearsals have delighted me´. On the second, to an old friend, Massenet informs his correspondent saying ´The main rehearsal will not take place on Monday. I will register your name in the list...´.
