REED DONNA: (1921-1986) American actress, Academy Award winner for Best Supporting Actress in 1953 for her role as Alma Burke in From Here to Eternity. An excellent signed 8 x 10 photograph, the original Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer publicity portrait depicting Reed, wearing cowgirl boots and denim shorts, seated outdoors on a wooden fence. A typed caption to the verso, promoting Reed's role as Rosalia Martinez in the Western film Apache Trail (1942), states, in part, 'Donna Reed may seem out of her element here as a farm girl but she really knows her corn and cabbages. Up until two years ago she had lived all her life on an Iowa farm and the day she posed for this picture at a friend's ranch she amazed everyone by her expertness in doing the chores'. Signed by Reed in black ink with her name alone to a light area at the base of the image. About EX
