MONET CLAUDE: (1840-1926) French Impressionist Painter. A.L.S., `Claude Monet´, a bold ink full signature, two pages, 8vo, in purple ink, Giveny, 27th May 1898, on his personal printed stationery, to Monsieur Petit, in French. Monet sends back the proofs of his catalogue for a forthcoming exhibition to his correspondent. Monet states `Je vous retourne l´épreuve de mon catalogue, il n´y a aucune erreur. J´ajoute seulement 2 de fleurs… Montaignac m'avait parlé d'y mettre mon portrait, mais, comme je le lui ai dit, je n'aime pas bien ça, c'est déjà bien assez d'exposer ses produits sans s'exposer soi-même…´ (Translation: `I am returning the proof of my catalogue to you, there is no error. I add only 2 of flowers… Montaignac had talked to me about putting my portrait there, but, as I told him, I don't like that, it's already enough to display your own works without exposing oneself...´) VG
