EICKE THEODOR: (1892-1943) German SS functionary, one of the key figures in the development of Nazi concentration camps during the Holocaust serving as the second commandant of Dachau concentration camp 1933-34. Eicke was also one of the executioners of SA Chief Ernst Rohm during the Night of the Long Knives purge. Knight's Cross winner with Oakleaves. Dark fountain pen ink signature ('Eicke', with rank beneath) and a few additional words and the date, 3rd August 1937, in his hand on a 12mo piece evidently neatly clipped from the conclusion of a letter or document and with an official circular stamp featuring the Nazi eagle and swastika. Lightly mounted to the base of an A4 sheet of photographic paper featuring a reproduction image of Eicke in a head and shoulders pose wearing his uniform and Knight's Cross. VG
