EICHMANN ADOLF: (1906-1962) Nazi SS-Obersturmbannfuhrer, known as the 'architect of the Holocaust'. Small series of autograph notes, unsigned, in the hand of Eichmann, one page (feint ruled paper), slim oblong 8vo, n.p. (Jerusalem), n.d. (c. June 1961), in German. The notes, comprising four words on two lines, read 'Meine stellung in Ungarn' (Translation: 'My position in Hungary'. With blank integral leaf. Slightly irregularly torn to the upper and lower edges as a result of originally having been removed from a larger sheet of paper. About VG
Germany invaded Hungary on 19th March 1944 and Eichmann arrived in the country on the same day, soon to be joined by senior members of his staff and other members of the SS. Eichmann toured Hungary and visited Auschwitz to assess preparations for the deportation of Hungarian Jews, and remained in the country until fleeing Budapest on 24th December 1944 just before the Soviets completed their encirclement of the capital.
