CLAIR RENE: (1898-1981) French Film Director. A.L.S., René Clair, one page, 4to, Paris, 17th November 1970, to Stanley Appelbaum, Over Publications Inc., New York, on his personal printed stationery, in French. Clair responds to his correspondent and states in part `… I have not made any formal commitment with Mr. Robert Dale, and I am fully satisfied if you are the one who makes the translation of my book. I am also pleased to learn that you will accept Mr. Dale´s services because of all the annotations and explanations which could help the American reader to better understand….´ Clair further explains the particularity of his book related to French authors , European cinema and television.
