BEAUVOIR SIMONE DE: (1908-1986) French existentialist philosopher, writer and feminist activist. A.L.S., S de Beauvoir, two pages, 8vo, n.p. (Paris), n.d. (28 th January 1985), to Monsieur A. Brion, in French. Beauvoir apologises for the inconvenience caused and explains ‘je vous ai renoye le livre d'or voici au moins six semaines. Je n'avais d'ailleurs pas en le temps de repondre aux questions et toutes les pages etaient blanches’ (Translation: ‘I sent you the guestbook at least six weeks ago. I didn’t have time to answer the questions and all the pages were blank’), further remarking that her correspondent should make a complaint to the post office. Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by Beauvoir. VG
